Legal studies prepare individuals to pursue a career as paralegals, legal assistant and lawyers. Paralegals and assistants do a variety of tasks to support lawyers that include maintaining and organizing files, conducting legal research, and drafting documents. Paralegals and legal assistants are found in all types of organizations, but most work for law firms, corporate legal departments, or government agencies. They usually work full time, and overtime is sometimes needed to meet important deadlines. On the other hand, lawyers do most of their work in offices, law libraries, courtrooms, clients' homes or businesses. Lawyers often work long hours, especially during a trial in court. Employment in this field is expected to increase by 18 %. The annual salary ranges from $46,680 to $124,750.
